Meet Guest Teachers: Gail & Silke
Gail Portrey (she/her): C-IAYT
Gail brings over 40 years of dedicated yoga practice to her teaching, with a focus on therapeutic and breath-centered approaches. She holds an advanced certificate in Therapeutic Yoga and is certified through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Gail has trained extensively in a wide range of styles, including Gentle Yoga, Yin, Yoga Tune-Up, Chair Yoga, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Yoga Nidra, and Pranayama. Her studies have taken her from Yoga Blend in Los Angeles to the Kripalu Center and White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara. She completed a 100-hour training at Loyola Marymount University with Srivatsa Ramaswami, a direct student of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, and has studied Iyengar-based pranayama and asana with Lisa Walford for over five years. Gail also draws from her background in meditation, shaped by teachings from Deepak Chopra, Tara Brach, and Marv Treiger. Known for her compassionate and accessible teaching style, Gail creates practices that integrate breath, movement, and mindfulness to support balance and well-being in body, mind, and spirit.
